Marilyn Marina (nee Wood) Jones - December 6, 1934 - June 28, 2003. Born and raised in Fosterville, NB. Daughter of the late Alton and Edith Wood. After a courageous battle with cancer, Marilyn passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Gone to be with her dear husband Elgin and daughter Wendy.

She will be sadly missed by her children Debbie Hotchkiss (Lloyd) of Sault Ste. Marie, Tammy Rizzi (Enzo) of Kingston and Jack of Petawawa. Marilyn was a loving Gramma to Melissa, Thomas, Tony, Katie, Travis, Jake and Lora.

She is survived by her sisters Gert Dickson (Richard), Doris Farrell (Lewis), Eileen Parker (Victor) and brother Wayne Wood (Carlene) all of New Brunswick and brothers Donald and Larry Wood both of Southern Ontario. Predeceased by her sisters Isobel and Marie and brother Ronald, Lloyd and Vaughn. Dear sister-in-law to Velvie (late Bud), Bessie (Rusty), Don (Karen), Elda (George), Marg (late Tom), John (Audrey) who have always loved her as a sister and a friend. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She has truly been an inspiration to us all; her determination, positive attitude, joy of life and her love for her family will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home + Cremation Centre on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 from 11 a.m. until time of Funeral service from the chapel at 1 p.m. Mr. Lloyd Hotchkiss Sr. officiating. Heavy winter weather, including below zero temperatures and deep snow contributed to another death last week when 5-year old Richard Charles Wood, son of Mr and Mrs B. Charles Wood of Upper Woodstock was struck and killed instantly near his home. The youngster was returning from a trip to the local store with his brother, 7-year old Carl when he ran in front of an approaching car driven by Harold Acton of Lakeville. High piles of snow narrowed shoulders of area highways. The boy is survived by his parents, two brothers, Carl and Ralph, and one sister, Frances. Coroner J.G. Blake ruled out an inquest, and RCMP Detachment Woodstock said the death was accidental and that no charges would be laid. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the DeWitt Funeral home, Woodstock. Rev Maynard Likim [sic] of McAdam officiated. Burial was in the Upper Woodstock cemetery.

The death of Velma B. McGinn occurred at the Hanwell Special Care Home on Wednesday, March 27th, 2002. Born in Green Mountain, NB she was the daughter of the late Fred and Dora (Veysey) Wood and wife of the late Robert Eugene McGinn. Surviving are her sons, Robert (Mary) of Stanley, NB, Richard (Catherine) of Shediac, NB and Kenneth (Lourdes) of Sheffield, NB; daughter, Sherrill Guimond (George) of Hampshire, PEI; sisters, Bertha Higgs (Carl) of Forest City, NB and Shirley Nason (Hollie) of Scarborough, ON; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Michael, Sean, Kevin, Jason, Aaron, Patrick, Douglas, Raymond, Richard and Kimberley; great-grandchildren, Leila-ann, Keelyn, Nathan and Kyle, Tyler, Curtis, Mitchel, Jordan, Savanna and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Velma is predeceased by her parents; husband, Robert; brothers and sisters Alton, Basil, Hildred, Lester, Hazel and Mable. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street on Sunday, March 31st, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dunstan's Catholic Church on Monday, April 1st, 2002 at 10:00 am. Monsignor Brian Sheehan as celebrant. MRS. MARY GOULD (1907) Forest City, Mrs Mary Gould, who departed this life Thursday morning, Sept 26, was born in Sidney, C.B. 60 years ago. When a young woman she lived for a few years at a minister's home in Boston, While there she married to Leonard Gould and they soon returned to Nova Scotia. But after a few years they removed to Canterbury and little later to North Lake, This proved to be their permanent home and as a mother devoted to her family, as well as a kind neighbor and an unfailing friend Mrs. Gould endeared herself to all who knew her. A strong faith in God, which showed itself in works as well as by words, made her a leader in Christians work in the community. She was baptized by Rev. Thomas McDonald, together with some of her children, 12 years since she was the mother of 13 children, all but two of whom are living. Viz: William, George, Charles, Hanaford, Edward, Lyle, Clarence, Fred, Eldon, Mrs. Charles Dwyer and Mrs. Clarence Graham. She had been in poor health for some months and was a great sufferer during the closing weeks of her life. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon from the church at North Lake; Rev. Thomas McDonald of Lubec preached the sermon from Rev. 3:11. Rev. S. M. Thompson of Forest City assisted. Appropriate hymns were sung by Mr and Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Joseph Blanchard. All the family were present, The casket was covered with flowers. The Interment was at Fosterville.

Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers remembrances to the Alzheimer Society or the Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
