A pretty June wedding of wide interest to many friends was solemnized in the Green Mountain United Baptist Church on June 16, when Rev. Leonard Hovey, united in marriage with double ring ceremony Muriel Marie, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Fish of Green Mountain, and Terrence Paul, son of Mr and Mrs Harold Craig, Hartland.
Baskets of summer flowers adorned the altar and guest pews were marked with a sprig of pine and pink roses tied with satin ribbon.
The organist, Miss Lynda MacMillan, played the nuptial music and the guest soloist, Miss Diane Milbury, sang "A Wedding Prayer" during the signing of the register.
The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Donna Fish as bridesmaid. L.A.C. Kenneth Mortensen was groomsman and the ushers were Charles Fish and Stanley Veysey.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a street length dress of nylon sheer over rayon taffeta with a lace bodice, long lace sleeves pointed at the wrist. Her veil of nylon tulle was held in plaice by a halo of simulated pearls and sequini. Her only jewellery was a strand of pearls and she carried a cascade bouquet of red roses.
The bridesmaid wore a stole collar dress of blue nylon sheer over taffeta and she carried a cascade bouquet of white and blue mums.
The groom and groomsman were dressed in Air Force uniforms.
The bride's mother wore a blue brocaded dress with white accessories. Her corsage was white and pink mums. The groom's mother wore a pink rayon shantung dress over satin with lace bodice. Her corsage was white and pink mums.
Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride for approximately 100 guests. The guest book was circulated by Miss Shirley Geen, a friend of the bride. The bride's table was prettily decorated with pink and white streamers and pink roses. One side was occupied by a 4-tier wedding cake topped by a miniature bride and goom and the other side by the groom's cake nicely wrapped in doilies and tied with blue satin ribbon.
Miss Gaynel Gray and Miss Irene Veysey, cousins of the bride and groom, served the bridal party and the other guests were served by Marily Ellis, Jean Turner, Sharon Taylor, and Lorraine McIntosh. Mrs Earl Veysey and Mrs Melvin Varney, aunts of the bride, presided over the tea cups.
The toast to the bride was proposed by the minister, Rev. Leonard Hovey and was responded to by the groom. After the reception the bridal party motored to Woodstock to have their pictures taken and later returned for an old-fashioned charivari in the evening. Later Mr and Mrs T.P. Craig left on a honeymoon trip to points of interest in N.B. For travelling the bride wore a blue rayon shantung dress with white accessories.
The bride is a graduate of Canterbury Regional High School and is presently employed with N.B. Telephone Co., Traffic Dept. at Woodstock. The groom is in the Air Force, presently stationed at Chatham, N.B.

BREWER - Virginia L. Boone, 86, wife of the late Ronald L. Boone, Sr., passed away peacefully on July 5, 2018 with her family by her side. This date is significant as it was the 1 year anniversary of her husband's passing. She was born May 2, 1932 in Eastport, the daughter of Thomas L. and Myrtle E. Foley. Virginia worked in the sardine factories and the Guilford Woolen Mill in Eastport during her younger years. She also worked for many years at C.F. Hathaway in Waterville. During her retirement, Virginia and her husband Ron traveled many miles to attend their grandchildren's sporting events. In her later years, Virginia kept busy doing cross stitch. The many beautiful projects that she created will be cherished by her family for years to come. Her most favorite holiday was the 4th of July. She and her husband Ron, along with many other family members, spent the holiday staying at Harris Point Cabins in Eastport, overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay. These waters are where her, her husband's and their dog's ashes will be spread. It was their most favorite place in the world to be. Her family will miss the many stories that she would tell, with vivid details, of her younger years in Eastport. Virginia was so very sad to have to leave her children, as well as, her dear friends at The Leach Home in Brewer. She had many friends there that were near and dear to her heart, especially Lorraine, Margaret, and Barbara. Her friendship with these lovely ladies certainly added much joy, fun, and laughter to her time there. The memories we have of Virginia are more valuable than gold. We'll remember her smile, her commentaries, and her stories from years ago. We'll remember her selfless and giving ways. Thank you for fiercely loving us and for always putting our needs ahead of your own. We will love you forever and miss you for always.
Surviving are three children, Ronald Boone, Jr and his wife, Peggy of Brewer, Gena Hebert of Plano, TX and Julie Meehan and her husband, Thomas of Brewer; seven grandchildren, Aaron Boone and his wife, Lee of Yarmouth, Elizabeth Breen and her husband, Matthew of Thomaston, Arwen Hebert of Plano, TX, Nicholas Hebert and his wife, Kristen of Frisco, Texas, Nathaniel Hebert of Yokosuka, Japan , Andrew Meehan and his wife, Hali of Eddington and Sarah Meehan and her fiance Cody Mello of Kittery; and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Craig and Genevieve Wade both of Eastport. She was predeceased by her husband Ron of 67 years, as well as, siblings Gene, Alice, Ralph, Walter, Leo, Zeke, and Harry.
Family and friends may visit 1 - 3 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where a service honoring Virginia's life will be held at 3 PM as the visitation concludes. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to The Leach Home in Brewer where a reception in her honor will be held following her funeral service. Messages and memories may be shared with her family at kileyandfoley.com.

Ebenezer Foster was a prominent citizen of Woodbridge some years before the revolution. He was already one of the trustees of the Free Schools of the Township when Governor Franklin granted a charter of incorporation to the trustees June 24, 1769, naming Mr. Foster as one of them. He was a vestryman of the Church of England of Woodbridge, and was named as such ion the charter incorporating the church, December 6, 1769.
He was appointed a justice of the peace of Middlesex County, June 9, 1770. He was commissioned a judge of the Court of Oyer and Terminer of the same county, July 10, 1773 and on December 14, 1773, he was appointed a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of that County.
His sympathies were with the British and perhaps it was because this fact was well understood, that at a meeting of the freeholders of the county on January 3, 1775, held pursuant to the recommendation of the Continental Congress, he was appointed on a committee of observation for Woodbridge, apparently with the purpose of getting him committed to the American cause, and with two others was authorized, in case the Assembly failed to appoint delegates to the Continental Congress in the May following, to meet with the committees from the other counties of the province in Provincial Congress and appoint such delegates.
On January 16, 1775, at a general meeting of the committee of observation and inspection, Mr. Foster was appointed on the committee of correspondence for the County of Middlesex. Subsequently, just wen we have no record, Mr. Foster was arrested as a sympathizer with the British. At a meeting of the Convention of the State of New Jersey, July 19, 1776, he “asked and was given leave on his parole, and security in the sum of £1000, to remove to the public house of Mr. White, in Barnardstown, in the county of Somerset, and not go more than six miles from thence, unless with the leave of the Convention, or the future Legislature of this State.
His confinement naturally was irksome and on August 2, he prayed that he might be permitted to return to his farm at Woodbridge, but the petition was order to lie on the table.
When the British overran New Jersey, in December, 1776, he was released and returned home. He remained there but a short time, where he was employed, according to his own statement made some years after, “in taking (by virtue of special commission for that purpose), the Submission of such of the Inhabitants of his Neighborhood as wished for British protection.” Until the surprise and capture of the Hessians at Trenton, where on January 2, 1777, he “crossed over to Staten Island, where was frequently hunted by small Parties of Jersey Militia.” Inquisition was found against him and other persons of Middlesex County, “who had either joined the army of the King of Great Britain, or had otherwise offended against the form of their allegiance to the State,” and he was advertised August 15, 1778. Judgement final was entered against him in due course and his property was advertised to be sold on March 22, 1779.
While on Staten Island he witnessed the will of Oswald Ford, September 22, 1777, another refugee from Woodbridge. His family was sent to him and after three years he removed to New York where he remained until April 27, 1783, when he sailed for Nova Scotia.
While in the British lines he “attempted every service required of him” or by the British commanders. In a communication to the printer of the Royal Gazette, of New York, of August 5, 1789, he says he did not join the army but accompanied it into New Jersey on the occasion of the raid upon Connecticut Farms and saw the body of Parson Caldwell's wife immediately after she had been shot by a British soldier. In just what capacity he was with the army he does not state but presumably as a guide. His account of the shooting of Mrs. Caldwell entirely lack any expression of horror or even regret which the shooting tragedy would naturally excite in any human breast.
He claimed compensation from the British Government for his losses. In a statement date at Saint John, New Brunswick, March 11, 1786, in which he listed a farm of 149 acres, with buildings, etc., in Woodbridge, valued at £1788; and a farm of 52 acres in Bergen county, valued at £156; and personal estate valued at £1500 in New York currency. Of his Woodbridge lands 72 acres came to him by descent from his mother, Margaret Heddon, who died about 1767; 32 acres by deed from Charles Wright, in 1753; 22 acres by deed from David Wright, in 1754; 10 acres from Joseph Shotwell, in 1755; 19 acres from Silas Walker. His Bergen lands were bought from George Sly, in 1771. Stephen Foster and Lawrence Foster, his sons, made oath in support of their father's claim as did Joseph Thorne and William Bears, two of his neighbors. He was allowed £906.
He resided at Kingston, Kings County, New Brunswick.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Foster was the scene of a very interesting event on Wednesday 15th inst., when their youngest daughter, Miss Inez, was married to Mr. Harry Lounder of Vanceboro, Me.
Shortly before 3 p.m. the bridal party came down stairs to the strains of the wedding march rendered by Miss Grace Gould of Pemberton. Rev. C.N. Barton tied the nuptial knot in the presence of more than a hundred invited guests who lined the lawn in front of the piazza on which the ceremony was performed. The single ring ceremony was used.
After hearty congratulations the bridal party preceded the guests to the dining room where a bounteous repast was awaiting. Candy, nuts and other good things were passed around among the guests amid mirth and good will.
The happy couple left on Tuesday for Boston and other American cities where they wll tour for two weeks. The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lounder of Vanceboro, Mr. Gaskell of New Your and Mrs. Phillips of Boston, parents and sisters of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Allison Brown of Mars Hill, Mrs. Archie Beals of Sommerfield, Mr. and Mrs. Lunn of Hartland, Miss Inez Henderson of Grand Manan.
The esteem in which the young couple were held was attended to by the numerous and costly presents received. A substantial sum of money, $5 of which was presented by the S.S. of which the bride was a very efficient and my loved teacher. The groom's gift was a costly traveling bag.

From the Notebook of Dot Harding, January, 2004 Edward Melvin Mott and Ruth Octavia Foster, aka Ruth Loroley Foster, were married prior to the New Brunswick Census of 1881, York County, North Lakes Parish. 1875 has been identified by Sarah Mott, a contact made through a Mott Message Board on the internet. She did not offer her reference source(s). But, note that their first child was born in Nov 1875.Edward Melvin Mott birthdate and death date have discrepancies.
His cemetery stone in Mattawamkeag, Maine indicates: June 20, 1848 - April 22, 1916 Regarding his date of birth: June 19, 1848 is indicated by Duane Crabtree, source not listed.
June 20, 1848 is indicated twice in the Longfellow Birthday Book that belonged to his daughter Effie Potter.
June 19, 1849 is indicated in the Emerson's Birthday Book that belonged to his wife Ruth.
June 20, 1849 is indicated in the manuscript written by his daughter Floss Sturgeon, and information otained through descendants of his daughter Jose Libby.
June 21st is indicated by his daughter D.R. Mott's writings.
1849, is indicated by Sarah Mott, source not listed.Fran & Leslie Harton share that Edward M. was 2 yrs old in the 1851 Census of Wickham, NB in Jacob's household, 12 yrs old in the 1861 Census of Wickham, NB in Jacob's household. These support 1849 DOB.
His obituary did not list a date of birth, but is consistant in the place - Queens County, NB.
In the 1871 Census of Wickham, Edward is not in his father's household.Regarding his date of death: A dispute is understandable as he committed suicide in a rock quarry not far from his home. He had been missing for a day or so when his body was discovered. Libby descendants understand that Ed's son-in-law Alvah Libby was among the finders, if not the finder. Searchers discovered the body following directions from a neighborhood "psychic" - Mrs.Morgan who lived in the house that now sits on the corner of Lee and Morgan Streets, Lincoln - a block from the Mott home.April 21, 1916 has been in the written material of his daughters D.R. Mott and Floss Sturgeon.April 22nd was indicated in the above mentioned birthday books of his wife and youngest daughter Effie who, incidently, was the last and possibly only child at home at the time of "father's" suicide by self inflicted gunshot. His obituary indicates "it is with unfiegned sorrow and a deep sense of loss sustained by the whole community that we record the death of Mr. E. M. Mott. The news came on Friday afternoon April 21st and was a great shock to both the family and citizens of Lincoln. It was thought by some of the members of his family that he was in a very precarious state of health, but they little thought how it was affecting him." 1916 was penciled in the margin.Cemetery stone indicates: June 20, 1848 - April 22, 1916 Ruth Octavia Foster, as she was known to her descendants - aka Ruth Loroley Foster in NB records - was born December 23, 1859 in Fosterville, NB and died May 10, 1943 in Lincoln, Maine. She is buried with her husband in Mattawamkeag, Maine. She had suffered at least one stroke, was blind and dependent to "get about" on her daughter Lue who cared for her. Granddaughter Joyce Potter Harding recalls that "Aunt Lue would take Grammie to the outhouse and leave Duke, Aunt Lue's dog, with her. When Grammie was ready to return, she would send Duke after Lue. Lue would return to the outhouse and help Grammie back to the house." Disputes regarding her date of birth are created by: The 1861 NB Census that indicates #1513 as Ruth Loroley Foster, a daughter to Josiah and Mary Anne Foster, 3 yrs old, a scholar and F. Baptist - this would make her birthdate 1858, not Dec 1859 as traditionally held.In the 1871 NB Census of Canterbury Parish, Ruth Loroley Foster is no longer in the household with Josiah and Mary. But brothers Charles and Newton do reside there. Where is she? She would have been 13 yrs old per the 1861 census, closer to 12 yrs old if 1859 birthdate is used.In 1881 Census of North Lake Parish, the couple resurface. Edward and Ruth are listed as Family #29. Edward is 32 yrs old (supporting a birthdate in 1849). Ruth is 21 (supporting a birthdate in 1860). At that time they have 3 children and Ruth's father Josiah Foster is in the household. The census indicates that they were all born in NB, that Edward is a farmer, FC Baptist, and of English origin.
(Floss Sturgeon indicated in her manuscript that the family's nationality was Scotch and Irish ancestry.) The couple had 15 children between the Nov 1875 and Feb 1901. The oldest 5, probably the oldest 6, were born in NB.
(Bll Boone shares that Eel River is/was a small community on Rt 12 in York County, New Brunswick, about 4 miles from Fosterville. The locals had several names for this community, such as North Lake and Head of the Lake. The names are derived from the fact that the community is situated nearby Eel River lake which drains into the Saint John River via Eel River.) Son Alvia, 6th child, died April 11, 1887. He is not buried with other family members in Mattawamkeag. I believe he died and was buried in NB prior to the family's leaving the North Lake community. Son Beecher, 7th child, was born January 14, 1888 reportedly, by his daughter, in Mattawamkeag, Maine. In Effie Mott Potter's Longfellow Birthday Book there is a note on a inside blank page: "Lue lived at Eel River Lake, Canada until 7 years old." Lue was born in July 1880.
The couple most likely immigrated from NB to Maine between April 1887 and January 14, 1888.
Note that Ruth's father was a widow in 1881 and living with the couple. I suppose he might have died about, or before 1887, which freed the family to move on to Maine.
Also note, that Ruth's youngest sister "Allie" (Alice) had died in 1882 at 19yrs, 5 mos old. She was already in Maine, buried in Winn, Mattawamkeag's neighboring town to the south, on the same eastern side of the Penobscot River.Granddaughter Joyce Potter Harding relates that the family lived, at one time, in the farmhouse of the late Lottie Leavitt which sits on the Winn/Mattawamkeag line. Joyce recalls that Grammie was always concerned about the children playing in the field near a pyramid shaped rock that literally stands on its point, rather than its base. Grammie was always worried that the rock would tip over onto the children. Interestingly, the rock still stands - on its point. Lottie shared in her late years that it was the object of many passerbyers who would stop and ask if they could have their picture taken with, or on, the rock. It was a small home with two stories and sits on the Penobscot River with an impressive view.
There are no Motts in the Winn town records according to present Winn's Town Clerk, Patricia Hussey.
In 1896, the couple's 12th child, son Carl was born in Mattawamkeag - according to his obituary.
In 1898, the couple's 14th child and 15th child, daughters Flossie and Effie were born in Woodville which lies across the river from Mattawamkeag - abt where the power lines crosses the Penobscot River to/from Mattawamkeag. Present friends in Chester share that the site could be arguably the extreme south of Woodville, or the extreme northern border of Chester.
Apparently when people would ask where she came from, Floss would proudly announce she had come to Lincoln on the hay wagon - abt 1902/1903. The family unit settled on what is now Lakeview Street, third house on right from Lee Street.Mr. Mott was known as a meat man. Most surviving members easily, frequently, and fondly recall Grammie Mott. Her home was always opened to the extended grandchildren and their friends. The Libby grandchildren would stable their horse in her barn during school hours. The children would come to her home for their lunchtime. Many still speak of her cookies. Carl's children lived at the home during his first marriage and when he was a single parent, the transition period between his wives. Because there was usually so many to feed at the Mott residence, there were two settings. The first was for the men who were working, the second for the women and children. Joyce Potter Harding has always been impressed that everyone of the Mott daughters did their dishes the same. If you were familiar with the routine of one daughter, one could easily fit in in the kitchen of another daughter. One out-of-state granddaughter Ruth Mott Brown shared that she was quite surprised during one of her visits. The family was having an outing at Mt. Katahdin in Millinocket, Maine where three of the Mott boys had settled. The last one out of the house, Grammie Mott locked the door, then placed the key on a nail directly beside the door, in view of any visitors. Her reasoning was that a locked door only kept honest people out. The house sustained a fire at one point. A lot of memorabilia (pictures) was lost, but it still stands in a modified fashion. The shed, outhouse and barn are gone.As the family grew, there were frequent, probably annual, reunions - at the Birches on Musquash Lake lying midway between Lincoln and MacAdam, NB where the eldest daughter stayed in NB; at Center Pond where Libbys had a camp; as well as at Mt. Katahdin and Pushaw Pond at Floss' home, a camp. Ruth Mott Brown recalled the pies made by Aunt Lue that were put in car trunks for trips over bumpy roads and that the standard meal at Grammie's seemed to be moose - for breakfast, for dinner, for supper. The Libbys recall that if they visited MacAdam, their mother would make Italians - one for each of the Libby clan and two to bribe the Border Patrol. She feared that the patrolman wouldn't let her return to Maine because she had ties to NB. Members of the Mott still maintain contact.Continue with children of Edward and Ruth Foster Mott: (Note that descendants will sometimes argue the name. I have listed the names and DOBs as they are listed on page of Ed and Ruth's Family Bible. One would assume that "mother" was the authority on names and DOBs. On the second page of the bible, the date of their first marriage is listed, but not the name of their spoouse - nor indication of second marriage.) 1) Sophia Priscilla Mott b. When the offpsring went to Mattawamkeag to retrieve their records, they would find that the Doctor (who might be stranded on one side or the other of the river for an extended period of time) would have merely written the last name, but no first name. In fact, he might not have remembered if the baby had been a girl or a boy - only that the Motts, for example, had had a new baby.) My initial professional position was in the Newborn and Neonatal Nurseries. I personally look at that list of names and dates, then think - my poor great grandmother was either pregnant or lactating (nursing) for 26, possibly 28, years continuously. Wow!!!! Then think of the meals, the dishes, the laundry, housekeeping, schoolwork, dating issues, weddings... She had to be a saint! The only marriage dispute seems to be that of #8 - in several sources, it is listed as June 6, 1906 - enough so that Jose and Alvah's kids are confused about the actual marriage date.
#11) both of Gene's wives died.
#12) Carl was divorced from his first wife Dora. His second wife Zella lived to be 100+ years old.
#11 and #13) spouses Maude Ethel Sturgeon and Howard Perley Sturgeon, Sr. are siblings who came from Blackville, NB with their father and other siblings in October 1912 . Their mother had died in 1905.
I apologize that I do not have the place that marriages took place for all. I believe my grandparents - Effie and Arthur - were married in Chester, Maine. But, need to double check.

Telegraph-Journal, Sep 22, 1951 The death of George William Fredericks occurred at his home in Woodstock after a short illness. Born at Benton, Mr. Fredericks was a son of the late Ira and Katherine Fredericks and was in his 72nd year.
He was a blacksmith and had worked at his trade in Woodstock, Southampton, and Canterbury. In his later years he retired from blacksmithing and farmed at Dow Settlement. In 1945 he retired from farming and moved to Woodstock where he lived until his death. Although not in the best of health he was up and around until a few days before his death. He was well-known and highly respected.
Surviving besides his wife, are two sons: Dalton F. Fredericks and Joseph K. Fredericks, at home; two daughters, Mrs. James Donovan, Canterbury, and Miss Margaret, at home; a brother Edward Fredericks, Bangor, Me., a sister, Mrs. David Lutwick, Dow Settlement, six grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
High mass of requiem was celebrated at St. Gertrude's Church, Woodstock, by the pastor, Very Rev. J.E. Brown. Interment was in Canterbury where prayers at the grave were said by Rev. D.S. Gillis. Pallbearers were Earl Hourihan, Ralph Sercerchi, James Donovan, William Donovan and Harry Donovan.

Surname in official records is "Frederick". By design, or accident, it became "Fredericks" the next generation.
