[1955] The chapel at St. Paul's United Church, Fredericton, was the scene of a quiet wedding when Laura Isabel Marina, daughter of Mr and Mrs Suther O'Regan of Canterbury, York County, was united in marriage to Claude Ronald DeMerchant, son of Mrs Elizabeth DeMerchant and the late William DeMerchant of Tobique Narrows, N.B.
The bride was given in marriage by her father and teh ceremony was performed by Rev. J. Arthur Forbes pastor of St. Paul's United Church in the presence of immediate relatives and friends.
The couple was attended by Mr and Mrs T.W.Tomlinson of Perth.
The bride is a graduate of Aroostook High School and the Fredericton Teacher's College and is on the staff of the Southern Victoria Regional School District Elementary school at Andover. The groom is a graduate of Perth High School, and the Maritime Forest Rangers School at Fredericton and is employed by the New Brunswick Electric Power Commission.

Obituaries Marina Laura DeMerchant (July 5, 1935 - May 10, 2009) The passing of Marina DeMerchant of Tobique Narrows, NB occurred on May 10, 2009 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital at the age of 73. Born in Debec, NB she was the daughter of the late Suther and Hazel (Wood) O'Regan. Marina is survived by her husband Peter DeMerchant; four daughters Carlene (Gregory) Underhill of Bath; Karen (Gaylen) Sullivan and Kathy (Darryl) Swazey of Four Falls and Tammie (Dana Jr.) Wright of Kilburn; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; one brother Robert (Lynda) O'Regan of Riley Brook. Predeceased by her parents, brother Murray and sister Carlene.Marina had a zest for life. She was whitty, crafty and always loved to pass on her skills to others. She was photogenic because she always loved to have her picture taken. Marina taught school for 20 years and during that time she had a mental math class that she taught at school and then when she came home she taught it to her kids and then on to her grandkids. After retiring from teaching she run the Craft Cabin for several years. She loved her grandkids and really enjoyed babies. Marina was Past Matron of the Eastern Star and formed the Rainbow Girls. She will be missed by her loving husband, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother and all friends who knew her.Resting at White's Funeral Home, Perth-Andover with visiting hours on Tuesday May 12th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. JACQUELINE R. BOONE DIXMONT - Jacqueline Rose (Ouellette) Boone, 59, the wife of James P. Boone, passed away unexpectedly, Dec. 15, 2005, at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1946, in Lewiston, the daughter of Normand and Therese (Legace) Ouellette. Jacqueline was a graduate of Fort Kent High School and had worked for UNUM Life Insurance for 15 years before retiring. She attended the East Dixmont Community Church. Jacqueline enjoyed traveling, sewing, quilting and crafts. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Jacqueline is survived by her beloved husband of 29 years, Jim of Dixmont; her daughter, Deborah A. Caron and her husband, Edward, of Biddeford; her mother, Therese Ouellette of Lewiston; her only grandchild, Justin Caron of Biddeford; two sisters, Jeanne Ouellette and Louise Sinclair, both of Lewiston; nieces and nephews, Patricia Weyeneth, Robert Sinclair, Scott Ouellette and Carrie Therioux; and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Normand; and brother, Thomas Ouellette. Alice Rose (Packham) Boone of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Raymond Lewis Boone, went to be with her Lord on July 24, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 17, 1927 in Toronto, ON, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Britton) Packham. Alice lived a full life being a loving wife and mother, raising her family in Toronto. In 1977, Alice and her husband, Raymond moved to Harvey Station, NB to begin their lives as Christian Missionaries for the Shantymen's Christian Association. Those who knew her, saw her faith in action as she lived it daily. She will be sadly missed by her children, William Raymond Boone (Teri) of Stirling, ON, Byron Daniel Boone (Catherine) of Brockville, ON, Patricia Alice Dewar (Paul) of Prescott, ON, Harold Robert Boone (Rowena) of Fredericton, NB and Kathleen Joyce Barnet (Ross) of Royal Road, NB; grandchildren, Timothy and Michael Boone, Jamie Boone and Allison (Cameron) Holmstrom, Melody Barr (Rob), Andrew (Sara) and Joanna Boone, Andrea and Natalie Lister; great grandchildren, Samantha and Allan Barr; sister, Joyce Leary (Robert) of Bobcaygeon, ON; several nieces and nephews. Died Forest City - Frank H. Patterson Had Wide Circle of Friends Who Regret His Death Forest City, N.B. Aug 12, [1946] Frank H. Patterson of Forest City, N.B., died at his residence July 25, after a number of years of poor health. He was born in Forest City on March 25, 1869, and lived here his entire life. He was the youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs David Patterson of Forest City. He carried on farming and lumbering until health failed him. He was a member and deacon of the Baptist Church here and will be widely mourned by a great number of friends who knew him. His wife, who was Carrie May Harvey, predeceased him Dec 25, 1937. He is survived by two sons, Vernon O., at home, and Omar B., of Winchester, Ont., and two daughters, Mrs Beulah Way of Vanceboro, Me., and Mrs Basil W. Boone of Forest City; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr Patterson's funeral was held from his late home with Rev John Boone officiating. Pallbearers were Otto Boone, Basil W. Boone, Basil S. Boone and Waldo Brooks. Burial was in the rural cemetery.

[1955] A quiet wedding took place at the residence of J.B. Bull when Rev. Gordon Smith united in marriage Miss Mary Lou Patterson, youngest daughter of Mrs Mildred Patterson and the late Vernon Patterson of Forest Cityu and Frederick Jewell Bull, son of Mr and Mrs Jewell Bull.
The bride was given in marriage by her cousin, Paul E. Graham and attended by Miss Carmeletia Graham as bridesmaid. Mr Thomas Porter supported the groom.
The bride wore a floor length gown of nylon lace with fitted bodice and tiered skirt of nylon net with lace, a fitted jacket with lace mitts. She wore a finger-tip veil which was held in place by a tiara of tiny pearls and rhinestones. She carried a bouquet of red roses. Her jewellery was a rhinestone necklace with matching earrings, a gift from the groom.
The bridesmaid's gown was of pink taffeta with overskirt of nylon net, matching cape and mitts. She carried a nesegay of pink and white carnations.
Red and pink roses adorned a bank of evergreen. Mrs Allen Dukeshire played the nuptial music.
The bride's mother wore a dress of metalic taffeta with navy accessories and a corsage of pink and white carnations. The groom's mother wore a dress of navy benaline with wihte and pink accessories and a corsage of pink and white carnations.
Mrs Clifford Graham, sister of the bride and Mrs Harvey Estabrooks, aunt of the groom, poured at the reception immediately following the ceremony. The toast to the bride was proposed by Rev. Gordon Smith. The guest book was circulated by the groom's cousin, Mrs Douglas Sloat.
A three strand pearl necklace was the gift to the bridesmaid and pianist. A gold tie clip for the best man from the groom.
Mr and Mrs Bull left on a honeymoon trip through the New England States. The bride wore a navy suit with red accessories and a corsage of red roses.
The happy couple will reside at Lower Woodstock.

January 20, 1938 daughter of the late Vernon & Mildred Patterson. Survived by her husband of 51 years Frederick Bull, daughter Cynthia Hamilton, son Vernon Bull (Lori), 3 grandsons Dwayne Hamilton, Robin & Jesse Bull, 2 great-grandchildren Kyle & Shylaya Hamilton, 1 sister Nadine Graham, 1 sister-in-law Audrey Polchies, and several nieces. Nadine D. (Patterson) Graham of Fredericton, NB died on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital after a brief illness. Born August 25, 1926 at Island Falls, Maine, USA, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Mildred (Dunphy) Patterson.Nadine worked at NB Medicare for over 20 years. After her retirement, she and her companion travelled across Canada and throughout the USA. Nadine is survived by two daughters, Helen Graham (Tom Oldenburg), McLeod Hill, NB and Alma Oldenburg (Brian Hetherington), Maple Ridge, BC; two grandsons, Mark Oldenburg (Lynn) and Lee Oldenburg (Trina), Coquitlam, BC; two great grandchildren, Sicily Oldenburg and Kelan Oldenburg, both of Coquitlam, BC; a brother-in-law, Fred Bull, Woodstock, NB; a niece, Cynthia Hamilton (Kevin Greer); a nephew, Vernon Bull (Lori), both of Fort McMurray, AB; several cousins in NB and Maine.In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Lou Bull; a grandson, David Oldenburg and her companion, Byron Wile. Resting at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB with visiting was on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with The Rev. Anthony Kwaw officiating, assisted by The Rev. Joyce Perry. Interment will be held at a later date at Forest City Cemetery. The death angel visited the home of Fred Peck on Friday, Sept 4th 1925, and removed his beloved wife, who had been ill for more than two years. (TB) She leaves to mourn her husband and four young children, Jean, Grant, John and Paul of Bear River, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Peck of Nova Scotia, three sisters, Mrs. Denby Jack of Bear River, N.S., Mrs. Harry Bester of Nokomia, Sask., and Miss Louise Peck of Boston, Mass. Two half-brothers, Herman and Ira Gray of Oregon, and five brothers, Homer L. Peck of Bellows Falls, Vt., Willard Peck of Providence, RI., Enoch of North Lake, and Orland and Vernon Peck of Bear River, N.S.
The late Mrs. Peck was highly esteemed and will be long remembered for her fine Christian piety and her help in sickness when able to assist. Prior to her illness, she had followed the nursing profession in Boston, Mass.
The funeral took place on Sunday, 6th inst. Rev. Mr. Dow officiated at the home and church. The hymns were chosen by the deceased and were as follows: We Will Understand it Better By and By, Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break, and We'll Never Say Goodbye In Heaven. The remains were conveyed to the lower cemetery where many sorrowing relatives and neighbors witnessed the last rites.

Peck - Underwood A pretty wedding was held in St. Anne's Episcopal Church when Rev Edward C. McConnell united in marriage Phyllis Fern, daughter of Mr and Mrs Alfred Underwood of Peterson, Iowa, and John E, the son of Fred W. Peck, of St. Stephen.
Mrs Robert Needham, cousin of the bride, from Sherman Oaks, was maid of honor. George Hillman of Oceanside was the best man. Leslie E Underwood, uncle of the bride, Royal, Iowa, gave the bride away.
The bride wore a white ballerina length gown with a lace top, a neckline of iridescent beading and a full net and tulle skirt with lace flowers appliqued on the skirt. He rheaddress was a pearl beaded tiara with a floating veil. She carried a cascade corsage of stephanotis, white orchids and carnations.
Mrs Grace L. Roberts, of Glendale, the bride's aunt, served as the bride's mother for the wedding. She wore an ice blue hat and raw silk dress with black accessories and a cascade corsage of white carnations.
The matron of honor wore a blue hyacinth net and lace gown ballerina length with blue accessories. She carried a cascade corsage of pink glamilias. Miss Nancy Jane Needham, cousing of the bride, served as flower girl. She wore a pink dotted swiss dress, with a bouffant skirt, ruffles and bow in bakc. She wore white accessories, a garland of pink carnations as a headpience and carried a white basket of pink carnations and white lilacs.
Max Tinch and Ralph Miller served as ushers. Mrs Donna Roberts san I Love You Truly, Because, and the Lord's Prayer. Lynn LaMunyon was the organist.
The church pews were decorated with white ribbons and green sprigs. Bouquets of white flowers and white candles decorated the altar. About 70 attended the reception held in the reception parlor at the church. Mrs George Hillam was in charge of the reception, aided by Mrs Joseph Shepley, Mrs Ralph Miller, Mrs Edward C. McConnell, Mrs Martha Walker and St. Monica's guild of St. Anne's Episcopal Church. A candlelight and buffet dinner was held at the home of George Hillam for out of town guests.
The bride's going away costume was a teal blue crepe dress, with matching cloche blue hat and beige accessories.
The bride was graduated from Columbia College, Chicago, and the Chicago School of Expression and Dramatic Art. The groom attended the University of new Brunswick and graduated from University of Western Ontario, and is on the staff of the Jefferson High School. The honeymoon was spent in LaJolla. They will reside at 1616 South Pacific , Oceanside.

Typical of the breed of women that helped make Western New Brunswick a good place to live in is 91-year old Mrs Maud McMinn, who now lives with her family at Eel River Lake, York County.
Born and brought up on a farm when trees were cut one year, stumps were left to rot for two or three years, then heaved from the ground with a team and tackle, she recalls the old days vividly, but prefers the present.
"Things were hard then, especially for women", she said a few days after her birthday. "We only went to school when they could pay a teacher for a term, and years would go by in between." Nevertheless, Mrs McMinn turned out to be a good reader and writer after only four terms of one-room schooling.
She worked with her husband, the late George A. McMinn, who died 16 years ago, [Actually 31 years ago, in 1938] in hay loft, field and cow stable. "We only milked 6 or 7 cows, but when George was away in the wood for three months at a time, I did it and kept the home fires burning," she said.
Mrs McMinn lives with her daughter and her husband, Mr and Mrs Eric Smith, having moved to Eel River Lake 12 years ago. Her home had been at Green Mountain.
She has three daughters living, Mrs Smith, Mrs Roy Lawson, Woodstock, Mrs Clarence Boone, Fredericton, and one deceased, Mrs Earl (Alma) Atkinson of Dalhousie.
Other descendants include 16 grandchilddren, 42 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren Among the many exciting events of her life were her first sight and ride in an automobile driven by Jed Fox about 60 years ago. She recalls it was noisy and smelly. "But it was great to have a ride in it." Although she can't see as well as she used to, Mrs McMinn likes to watch birds with her binoculars and enjoys watching TV. A lifetime Baptist, she has always enjoyed church activities and been a steady worker. {From the Woodstock Bugle by Bob Morrison] When Maud was about 74 or 75, she was attending a Sunday School Rally at the Baptist church in Fosterville, one of many that particular day in mid-summer. Junior Boone and I were youngsters at the time, full of vim and vigor, more interested in having fun than sitting through a stuffy meeting. During the noon break, we were running around throwing green apples at each other; generally being boys. In retaliation for being beaned with an apple, I grabbed one and took off in pursuit of him. Maud was standing in a group of three or four ladies talking and I lined Junior up in my sights just as he ducked between the standing ladies. The hard, green missle found its mark alright, only the mark happened to be Maud. Square on the temple, it landed, with enough force to knock her down. I stood dumbfounded as her knees slowly buckled and with a sigh, she collapsed like a wet flour sack.My whole future flashed through my mind in an instant: I killed her. If I am not hung, I will be in jail the rest of my life living on bread and water. IF I survived the trouncing mother is sure to lay on me.Someone called for smelling salts. No one had any, but Edith Farrell had some at home about 500 yards down the road. Junior and I ran like the wind to fetch the smelling salts and when we got back, Maud was sitting up but still befuddled. Eventually helping hands got her across the road to Lily Kinney's where she rested for a time. Fortunately, the experience had no lasting effects on her.Me? True enought, mother was fit to be tied when she learned of the dastardly deed. After withstanding a reshaping of my head by a windmilling purse/handbag, I crawled in the far corner of Kenneth Veysey's shed next to the church to bawl my heart out as only a 10 year old can do.The one redeeming feature of this exile to the shed was a comforting word and hug from the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She must have been 14 or 15; probably older. She simply laid her hand on my cheek and said everything would be alright. I've loved her ever since. Although I never did learn who she was, I think it was Stella (Wood] Veysey's (Kenneth's wife) sister, Peggy maybe? If she is still living and ever sees this, I want her to know her comfort that day stayed with me a life time. It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Noel William Perley of Jacksonville NB, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Carleton Manor in Woodstock at the age of 77.Noel was born in Florenceville, NB on December 24, 1946, to the late Kenneth Marsten and Williamina Helen Mary (Emslie) Perley.Noel is survived by his daughter Shelly (Ian) Lutes, son Kevin Perley, grandsons Nathan and Kyle Stairs, and sister Elizabeth (June) Voutour. Noel is also survived by brothers-in-laws Jerry (Connie) Boone, Daniel Boone, sisters-in-laws Debbie (Ron) Lenentine, Gayla (Peter) DeMerchant, Sherry (James) Gray, Karen (John) Farnham, Kathy (Thom) Farrell, and many nieces and nephews.Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Evelyn (Kaye), in-laws Derryl and Ila (Wood) Boone, daughter-in-law Holly (Casey) Perley, and brother-in-law, Lorne Boone, as well as brother-in-law Ollie and sister-in-law Lorraine (Keilty). Noel began working at the Bank of Montreal directly out of high school and eventually went to work for McCain Foods in the Accounts Receivable Department where he worked for over 30 years. He was a long-time member of the Woodstock Elks Lodge, his home away from home. He played softball, curled, and played gentlemen’s hockey where he was not always strictly a gentleman and his conduct on the ice earned him the nickname "Elbows". Noel enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Kaye spent weekends for many years in the Monument where they were often on their ATVs. Noel was a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays.In keeping with Noels wishes, there will not be a public visitation or funeral service. Interment will be at a later date.If so desired, donations to the Carleton Manor Foundation in Noel’s memory would be appreciated.

[On Thursday, February 14th 1927, the community was shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. Alexander Boone at the home of her son, Charles F. Boone, of North Lake.
Deceased had been in poor health for several months and the end came very unexpected to the members of the family. She was conscious to the last and knew and talked to them and passed away without a murmur or a pain.
Deceased was born at Mahogny, N.B., June 25th, 1832, and a very remarkable thing is that her family of four boys and four girls followed her remains to her last resting place beside her husband in the Fosterville cemetery, who preceded her to his rest some thirty-two months ago.
The aggregate ages of the children who followed their mother to her last resting place are 524 years, which is rare in these days.
Besides her sorrowing family she leaves 44 grandchildren, 117 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, besides numerous relatives and friends both in the vicinity where she lived and in various places in New Brunswick.
Rev. Mr. Allaby, the former pastor of this field, preached a very appropriate and touching sermon in the United Baptist Church of this place, of which the deceased was a member. Members of the Forest City choir and North Lake choir rendered the hymns, Sweetly Meeting, Sweet Hour of Prayer, Rock of Ages, and at the grave In the Sweet By and By.
The funeral was very large considering the storm of Saturday and Sunday and showed the esteem in which the deceased was held in the community where she lived.
(A feeling of melancholy swept over me when I read this obituary of my great-grandmother. For the past 25 years, compressed into about 6 weeks, I have lived among the people of North Lake sharing their lives and deaths, joy and sadness, accidents, work and play. Then I came to realize that no longer would I see any future mention of Alex and Sarah, they being removed from me as effectively as they were from the community where they lived. The 168 descendants of this couple in 1925 must number in the thousands in 2021)

He died suddenly at age 55 on September 1, 2013. He was predeceased by his mother, Phyllis (Graham) Estey and father, Robert Pierce. Rob "Bobby" loved to travel the world. Lovingly missed by sister, Gail (Tom) Wellings, and nieces, April Wellings, Jennifer (Dan) Wellings-Gallant, Shilo (Troy) Boucher, and great-niece Alexandra Gallant.
Interment will be at Forest City Cemetery, Forest City, N.B. on Sunday, October 13, 2013. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of their choice.
