Fosterville, [1958] - A quiet, but pretty wedding was solemnized in the United Baptist parsonage, Woodstock, when Rev. G.C. Vincent united in marriage, Ruth Velma, daughter of Mr and Mrs Allan Greer, Green Mountain, and LeRoy Avril Davenport, son of Mr and Mrs Marshall Budrow of Upper Kent.
The couple were attended by Mr and Mrs Frank Boone, sister and brother-in-law of the bride.
The bride looked charming in a pale blue suit, slue hat and accessories, and a corsage of yellow carnations.
Mrs Boone wore a blue suit, black hat and accessories to match, and a corsage of yellow carnations.
Following the ceremony, the wedding party motored to Green Mountain, to the home of the bride, where a reception and an old fasshioned charivari was held. They will reside in upper kent.

The passing of Frances Louise (Griffiths) Home, formerly of Burtt's Corner, NB, wife of the late, Marchmont Home, occurred on April 10, 2007 at York Manor Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB. Born on March 4, 1913 in Burtt's Corner, NB, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Annie (Crandall) Griffiths. Frances was a retired school teacher. She was a member of the Keswick United Baptist Church, life member of the Women's Missionary Society, member of the Happy Time Senior Group of Keswick, the Central NB Retired Teacher and Central NB Welsh Societies.
Frances is survived by one son, Lorne Home of Fosterville; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Home of Burtt's Corner; six grandchildren, Kevin (Elaine), Dana (Mary), Colleen MacQuarrie (Dean), Sandra (Allan), Terry, Shelly (Leverne) Donahue; six great grandchildren, Zakery and Noah, Tyler and Bradley, Stuart, and Katie Joy; three sisters-in-law, Nina Griffiths of Burtt's Corner, Marie Griffiths of Olds, AB and Reta Leaman of Woodstock and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one son, Stuart Home; great grandson, David; two sisters, Beatrice Wilson and Delora Sandwith; five brothers, Thomas, Winslow, Burpee, Franklin and Irvine; sister-in-law, Jennie Griffiths.
Visitation will take place from York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Keswick United Baptist Church, Keswick, NB on Friday, April 13, 2007 at 2 pm with Rev. Dean Annis officiating and Pastor Jonathan McKay assisting. Pallbearers are Ross Griffiths, Royden Sandwith, Winston Sandwith, Paul Griffiths, Larry Wilson and Leverne Donahue. Honourary Pallbearers are Judy Thorne, Ruth Forsythe, Nancy England, Myrna Craig and Lois Paintee. Interment will take place in Keswick Cemetery, Keswick, NB at a later date. Stetson, ME -- Nov 4, 1963 -- Harold Havelock Boone, 68, died at his home here Saturday night after a long illness.
He was born at Bailley, NB March 16, 1895, son of Walter and Katherine (Scott) Boone.
Mr. Boone attended schools in McAdam and Houlton. He had been an inspector for the Canadian Pacific Railway for 45 years.
In 1930 he married Matilda Fletcher at Calais. The couple lived at Vanceboro and Brownsville Junction before coming to Stetson eight years ago.
Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Janet S. Boone, bothe of Stetson; one brother, Walter Boone, of McAdam, NB; three sisters, Mrs Frank Perley and Mrs. Edison Hagerty of Hagerty's Cove, NB; and Mrs. MoseDieptro of Portland; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.Funeral services will be held at the Farnham Funeral Home, at Corina Tuesday at 1 p.m., Rev. Raymond Grossman officiating. Interment will be in Clark Hill Cemetery, Stetson.

Arthur C. Hamilton of Forest City Died While in Havana, Cuba - Was Well-known to Sportsmen Forest City, Jan 5, 1928 - Friends here have received work of the death at Havana, Cuba, last week of Arthur C. Hamilton, of Forest City. He was the owner of the Hamilton Camps at Forest City and made frequent visits to the city with sportsmen. He is survived by his widow and several sons and daughters, one of whom, Miss Georgie Hamilton, attended Fredericton Highschool for three years and made her home while here with Johnston McKennie and his daughters.
The remains reached New York on Monday and his funeral took place yesterday at Forest City.
(Arthur moved his family to Forest City in 1904 from Kentucky. Florence, his wife, continued to live in the big house until her death in the 60s. Today, the house is owned by a granddaughter, Pat Goegan and still has much of the same furniture as it did in 1928.) Burial - Forest City, NB

Drowned in Spednic Lake. The Daily Gleaner of Fredericton reported on Dec 13, 1938: While the search pressed forward today with grappling efforts being carried out, there was still no result early in the afternoon in the attempts to locate the body of Billy Hamilton, of Forest City. It is feared that the 18-year old boy lost his life in an attempt to paddle a canoe to a camp belonging to the family on Spendic (sic) Lake.
The canoe was to be left at the camp for the winter. When the boy did not return, his mother gave the alarm, and searching parties of neighbors set out to find the missing youth. They did not find young Hamilton but they did come across evidence which may well point to a tragic mishap. The body of the little dog which accompanied him was found frozen in the ice along the lake's edge, and nearby was a glove worn by the boy. Then the canoe itself was found in the shore ice. It is believed that the light canoe may have crashed into the ice and thrown the boy out.
When no trace of Hamilton was found, it was decided to attempt grappling, since it was believed his body might be under the ice. Corporal L.P. Ryder, RCMP, arrived here today from Woodstock to take charge of the grappling operations.
Billy Hamilton was well known in this district, a son of Mrs Hamilton and the late Arthur Hamilton, originally of Virginia. He also has three sisters in Bangor, ME, two sisters and a brother in Central America.
Two days later, the Gleaner reported the recovery. There will be no inquest in the death of William Naudin (Billy) Hamilton, 18-year old resident of Forest City, NB and former student of Charlotte Street School and Fredericton High School. Dr. Charles MacKay, coroner of Fredericton, returned to this city early this morning after visiting Spednic Lake and investigating there the circumstances of the tragedy which cost the young man's life.
With search and grappling being directed at Spednic Lake yesterday by RCMP Corporal L.P. Ryder of the Woodstock Detachment, and police from Maine, the body was found yesterday afternoon. The discovery allowed reconstruction of the way the boy lost his life.
It was to take a canoe to a camp belonging to the family on Spednic Lake that Billy Hamilton set out on what was to be the last canoe trip of his life. Apparently he had crossed the lake and had returned. In pushing the canoe over the ice of the shore he went through the ice, judging from the signs and the tracks, and while he overturned the canoe while grasping it, he was unable to pull himself out by this means.
Unsuccessful too was the aid either sought or offered by the large shaggy dog which accompanied him. Hamilton probably called the dog to the water, but pulled it in too in endeavouring to get out. The body of the dog was discovered by searchers Monday near the canoe.
When found yesterday afternoon under the ice, the body of young Hamilton was fully clothed save for one gum-rubber and sock which he had apparently pulled off. The lake is free of ice save for that around the shores.
Dr Charles MacKay of Fredericton was called as coroner. After investigating and questioning, a decision was that it wound not be necessary to hold an inquest. Dr. MacKay returned to Fredericton early this morning after a difficult trip to the border lake. The body of the young man was taken to his Forest City home.
The victim of the sad fatality had many friends in Fredericton, he having made his home for a few years with the late Johnston McKenzie and his daughters while attending school in Fredericton. He was the only one of the family of Mr and Mrs Arthur C Hamilton to be born in New Brunswick, the other children having been born in Kentucky where Mr and Mrs Hamilton lived. They came to New Brunswick on account of Mr Hamilton's health and he acted as a guide. He died a few years ago. Besides his mother a brother, Arthur, in Guatemala, and five sisters survive: Mrs Lake (Katherine) in New Orleans; Mrs E.S. Perry and Mary Hamilton, Bangor, ME, Mrs Reed McIntyre, New York and Helen of New York, at present at home.
The funeral of the late William Hamilton is being held this aftgernoon from the home of his mother, Forest City, with Very Rev C.J. McLaughlin of Debec Junction, NB officiating, and interment at Forest City.
Additional thoughts: The Hamilton family were catholic by faith, a bit of a novelty in protestant Forest City. The citizens were in awe of the fact that Billy Hamilton managed to save the big bible in the Baptist church when it was struck by lightening and burned in August, 1936. Such thinking reveals how little people of the day understood another faith. If it wasn't Baptist or Methodist, then it must be wrong. So for Billy to "save the bible", heads were shaken as reality collided with long held perceptions.Burial - Forest City, NB

Freda Mae Grant Carson, 96, died Nov. 27, 2010, at Houlton Regional Hospital, her Lord's possession, as she was throughout her good, long life. She was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Canterbury, New Brunswick, the second child of Edward Harris and Lillian Isabelle (Grant) Grant. When she was two years old the family, then with three children, immigrated to Maine, by horse and wagon, settling in Crystal, where her father worked in the woods and on the railroad, her parents eventually managing, additionally, a small subsistence farm. Freda was a bright student and was able to attend high school in Island Falls, by working her keep - including an unheated bedroom - with a local family. There was no school bus in the area then, and cars weren't affordable, so she walked many miles to visit her family. She graduated in 1933 and enjoyed many reunions since. She became secretary to Walter Cowan, a Houlton lawyer and judge of probate, and remained such for 25 years. During that time she became a proud American citizen, and was later appointed by Gov. Cross as the first and only woman recorder of Houlton Municipal Court, and only the second so-appointed in the county. As such she was authorized to act as judge on many occasions, whenever the municipal judge was unavailable. When Maine District Court was established in 1962, Chief Justice Chapman appointed her as clerk of the district, a full-time position. In 1978 Gov. Longley appointed her a lifetime Dedimus Justice. Her retirement banquet in 1983 was attended by many luminaries of the Maine court system, in addition to many others, on some of whom she had levied fines - you know who you are. Freda was active in many community organizations, too numerous to list here, and in all of them held the position of president or chair for several years. She was also an avid gardener and an accomplished seamstress, making much of her own clothing, and was an expert in the nearly-lost art of tatting - a form of decorative hand-sewing. Not only that, she was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and also a dedicated homemaker and a very good cook. She excelled at everything she did. She married J. Merland Carson, a recent widower, in 1949, and adopted his eight-year-old daughter, Gayle. In 1974 Freda and Merland moved from Houlton to Linneus to better help Gayle manage her farm after the death of Gayle's first husband, Roger Bates. Their help was critical when their grandson, Michael Bates, died a few months later. When Freda left their small neighboring farm two years after Merland's death in 1990, she managed the planet's largest ever yard sale, still talked about, as Merland saved everything. Freda is survived by her daughter, Gayle Boone and husband, Alan, of Bangor; granddaughter, Marcia Bates Greenfield of Eliot; great-granddaughter, Hannah Greenfield of Pittsburgh; sister, Elsie Grant Hoskin of Houlton; a special niece and her husband, Marian and Don Burton of California and Mattawamkeag Lake; a special nephew and his wife, Royal and Susan Hoskin and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Hollis Center; and stepgrandsons, Storer Boone and Jacob Boone and their families, of London and Toronto. In addition to the already mentioned lost loved ones, she cherished her recently deceased nephew, George Hoskin; and those relations of her brothers, Burns, Joseph and David Grant; and of her late sister, Eva Grant Kennedy; and also many friends. There will be a visiting hour 10-11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Military Street Baptist Church, Houlton, with a last service immediately after, which the Rev. Randall Burns will officiate.

Gordon B. Harvey of McAdam and formerly of Pemberton Ridge passed away September 4, 2003 at his home. Born at Pemberton Ridge on December 15, 1918, he was a son of the late Lancaster and Elizabeth (Starton) Harvey. Gordon was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the York Carleton Regiment. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a guide for many years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, McAdam Branch 7. Gordon is survived by a special nephew, Stephen Harvey (Paulette) and their children Christina and Mitchell, McAdam; a daughter, CarolLee Johnson (David), Ontario; two sons, Roy Harvey (Mona), St. Stephen and Michael Harvey, Ontario; a sister, Edith Broad, Woodstock; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, three sisters, Hazel Guy, Alice Harvey and Henrietta DeMerchant and three brothers, George, Robert and Albert Harvey. Bunting - Hawkes - Couple Married at Woodstock Last Month-Reception Held Woodstock, July 8 [1946 A wedding of interest to friends and relatives in Maine and new Brunswick took place at the Baptist parsonage here on Wednesday afternoon, June 26, at 2:30 o'clock when Marjorie Kathleen, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Hawkes, Canterbury, was united in marriage to John Fenwick, eldest son of Fenwick Bunting and the late Mrs Bunting, Debec, by Rev M.O. Brinton. The double ring ceremony was used.
The bride was becomingly attired in a turquoise blue wool suit with black accessories and wore a corsage of American Beauty roses.
She was attended by her cousin, Miss Alice Foster, of North lake, who wore a lime green suit with black accessories and a corsage of pink carnations. The groom was supported by his brother, Fred Bunting of Debec.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents at which 80 guests were present. The bride's table was centered with a three tier wedding cake, frosted in white, decorated with silver leaves and surmounted by a miniature bride and groom.

The family of Marjorie Kathleen Bunting is saddened to announce her death which occurred on Wednesday March 28, 2012 at the Upper River Valley Hospital at the age of 87.Born in Eel River on October 12, 1924 she resided most of her life in Woodstock. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband John Bunting her parents Charles and Lena (McNerlin) Hawkes; her son Charles Bunting, brothers Ken Hawkes and Doug Hawkes and great granddaughter Keira Bunting. She is survived by her daughter Marie (Phil) Hansen of New Maryland and her six grandchildren, Jennifer Hansen; Matthew (Beth) Hansen, Chris (Darcy) Bunting; Shana (Darren) Grey; Jonathan (Stephanie) Hansen and Kirsten Hansen. Marjorie was a special great grandmother to Alex Hansen, Emma Hansen, Keenan Bunting, Ally Hansen, Keeley Bunting, Mattea Hansen, Michaela Hansen, Addison Grey, Katyn Bunting, Ayden Grey and Jacob Hansen. She was a special aunt to several nieces and nephews. Mom is affectionately known as the “donut lady “and she lived a full life of service to all who crossed her path.Due to the recent death of Marie's brother Charles Bunting and in consideration of her nephew Chris and niece Shana, Marie is requesting no public visitation prior to the funeral service.A Celebration of Marjorie's life and faith will be held on Friday at 11 am from the Woodstock Baptist Church.
