Probate of The last Will & Testament of Josiah Lawrence (as supplied by Alex Lawrence, Ontario On Feb 18, 2004) Enregistered in Liber B folios 434, 435, 436 N. Rubidge Regr of said Comt No. 5619 I Certify tht the within Instrument is duly Entered and Registered in the Registry Office for the County of Brant in Book H for the township of Burford at 11 o'clock and 10 minutes of the 5th day of December A.D. 1871 Number 5619 TS Shiuotn (?) In Her Majesty's Surrogate Court of the County of Brant Be it Known, that on the Thirteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sy one the last Will and Testament of Josiah Lawrence late of the Township of Burford in the said County of Brant, Yeoman deceased who died on or about the Twenty eighth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sy at the Township of Burford in the said County of Brant and who at the time of his death had a fixed place of abode at the Township of Burford in the said County of Brant was proved and registered in the said Surrogate Court, a true Copy of which said last Will and Testament is hereunder written; And that the administration of all and singular the personal estate and effects, rights and credits, of the said deceased, and in any way concerning his Will, was granted by the aforesaid court to Peter Doran of the Township of Burford in the said county of Brant and William H Lawrence of the same place both Farmers (Jane Lawrence of the same place Widow of the Testator the Executrix named in the said Will having first renounced all her right to Probate of the said Will and the Execution thereof) the Executors named in the said Will They having been first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same, by paying the just debts of the deceased and the Legacies contained in his Will, so far as they thereunto bound by law; And to exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said estate and effects, rights and credits, and to render a just and true account of their executorship whenever required by law so to do.N, Rubidge Registrar of said Comt (Ontario Law Stamps, one for $1.00 and one for $0.50 were attached to this document) Josiah Lawrence, Last Will & Testament (Note the spelling of LAWRANCE and LAWRENCE used) I Josiah Lawrance of the Township of Burford in the county of Brant and Province of Ontario Yeoman being weak in body but sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made.First- I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Jane Lawrance Peter Doran and my son William H Lawrance to be Executors of this my last Will directing my said Executors to pay all my just debts and funeral expenses and the legacies hereinafter given out of my Estate.Second- I devise the East half of my real Estate to my beloved son Isaac B. Lawrance and the West half to my beloved son William H. Lawrance my real estate being known as the south half of Lot Number Six in the fourth concession of the Township of Burford.Third- I devise to my beloved son Jacob Lawrance the sum of Five dollars within One year after my decease.Fourth- I devise to my beloved daughter Mary Laird the sum of Three hundred dollars to be paid as follows that is to say: One hundreds dollars to be paid at the expiration of one year after my decease and the remaining Two hundred dollars to be paid in two annual instalments of One hundred dollars each thereafter.Fifth- I devise to my beloved daughter Margaret Doran the sum of Three hundred dollars to be paid as follows that is to say One hundred dollars to be paid at the expiration of five years after my decease and the remaining Two hundred dollars to be paid in two annual instalments of One hundred dollars each thereafter.Sixth- I devise to my beloved neice (sic) Elizabeth Philips the sum of Three hundred dollars to be paid as follows that is to say One hundred dollars to be paid at the expiration of Eight yers after my decease and the remaining Two hundred dollars to be paid in tow annual instalments of One hundred dollars each thereafter.Sh- I devise to my beloved wife Jane Lawrence the free use and occupation of my house also one third of all the grain raised on my estate delivered in the half bushell and one third of the hay all of the above bequest to be continued during the time she remains my widow.Eighth- I devise that my personal property be sold and after all my debts and expenses are paid the balance is to be applied on payment of the legacies to my daughters hereinbefore mentioned and the remainder of the legacies to be paid by my two sons Isaac B Lawrence and William H Lawrence each one paying an equal share with the exception of One hundred dollars which Isaac is to pay more than William and William H Lawrance is to have one half of the fruit and the use of the barn for eight yers and all my household furniture I bequeath to my beloved wife Jane Lawrance. If my beloved niece Elizabeth Philips should die without an heir her legacies are to be divided among the rest of my heirs.In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty sh day of July in the year One thousand eight hundred and sy.Signed Sealed Published and Declared Josiah Lawrence in presence of Philip S. Terryberry Know All Men By These Presents That whereas under the Will of Josiah Lawrence late of the Township of Burford in the County of Brant, Yeoman, deceased said will having been duly registered in the Registry Office for the County of Brant on the Fifth day of December A.D. 1871 in Book H for the Towhsnip of Burford as No 5619 Isaac B Lawrence and William H Lawrence were directed to pay certain Legacies to Jacob Lawrence, Mary Laird wife of Philip Laird, and Margaret Doran wife of Peter Doran all of the Township of Burford in the County of Brant.
?ow therefore in consideration of the promises and of the said sum of Twenty-six dollars and sixty six cents of lawful money of Canada, being the balance of said Legacies (The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Jacob Lawrence, Mary Laird and Margaret Doran) the said Jacob Lawrence, Mary Laird, and Margaret Doran have released and by the presents presents do release unto the said Isaac B Lawrence and William H Lawrence their heirs administrators and executors all and each of their right title interest claim and demand both at law and in equity or otherwise howsoever in and under the will of the said Josiah Larence deceased and hereby release and discharge the said Isaac B Lawrence and William H Lawrence from all liabilithy and responsibility under the said will.

Garland P. Leeman St. of Forest City died Saturay at Green Mountain in a lumbering accident. He was 52.
Born at Pemberton Ridge, he was the son of Guy and Flora (Cropley) Leeman.
He is survived by his wife, Aileen (Betty) Graham; four daughters, Virginia, Wendy, Cynthia and Chrustal, all at home; three sons, Garland Jr., and Dwight, both of Harvey; Mark, at home; his parents, Pemberton Ridge; four sisters, Mrs. Elwood keilty (Phyllis) of Hartin Settlement; Velma dnd thelma Leem, both of Pemberton Ridge; Mrs. Gordon Walton, (Shirley) of Centreville; two brothers, Lloyd, of Pemberton Ridge and Gerald (Todd) of Bathurst; several nieces and nephews.
Resting at his home where service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Al Howe officiating.
